Reusable Grocery Delivery Container
{Industrial Design + Sustainability} My client wanted a reusable grocery delivery solution that had effective chill-chain to keep all refrigerated and frozen foods safe for up to 12 hours. Their outgoing solution was heavy on waste using lots of styrofoam and cardboard, which was a top complaint of customers. My proposed solution used woven polypropylene and pressed paperboard for rigidity - both of which made partially with post-industrial waste. The container is collapsible, so customers can flatten them easily and leave them by their doorstep for drivers to pick up the next time they get a delivery. They are durable and stackable, which made them very useful and allowed my client to increase the number of deliveries per driver, and drive down cost. Over 4 million units were made, before the client ultimately decided to replace them with paper bags. After the success of this product in the US, I was asked to redesign for the UK, DE and JP markets where it is still used as of March 2021.
